Getting 1 was a slippery slope.

Far away/right was the first.

2a6 and T90 were bought to scratch a forrest camo itch(I would have prefered a Forest Chally, but Desert came up first).  Aaaanywhoo.  Then came the closest/left Challenger.

Been concentrating on breaking the first one.

Magnet conversion.
Re-wiring/extending wires in progress.
Aluminium brace half made.
I intended to just put PU resin in the rear of the hull, and use some 3mm aluminium plate in the front.  It all went resin.  It does help reduce hull flex.

Suspension arms, drive sprocket, and idler wheel all cold blued.  Tried rushing through the bluing before, and rushed to get some acrylic on it, and it didn't set.  So clean, and retry it is then.

Road wheels.  I bought 0.5mm adhesive backed rubber sheet.  I cut strips and fitted to road wheels, and front idler.  Hopefully it will make it quieter, and grip the track better(this idlers had to be fettled to turn freely.  Ssme with the Leopards road wheels).  So the track would have been dragging over them rather than them turning.

My first attempt at weathering went pear shaped.

I felt like Bob Ross... then I tried to seal it with matt lacquer from a spray can.



White spots, cloudy patches.

I assume there was still moisture in the pigments...

Goooooooooddamit.

I have long blamed such blemishes on the Temperature when I have been spraying, Below 15c and above 27c are not good for my painting efforts.

Apart from the middle of winter here all my painting is above 27C !

It was in a cold'ish garage. About 11-13º roughly.

I thought i'd get away with it as I took all the stuff and spray can from house just before painting.

Maybe I was breathing too heavily... condensation is a... aye.

Fixage options?

Trying to take the worst off with a wooden toothpick.

If it is acrylic lots of water and a hard rub at the same time.

Matt Lacquer
Could have reacted with the product it was covering.
Lacquer does behave different to other products from what I have picked up over the years.

Can’t help you with why the paint went off. But it is a nice line up modern tanks.
