Lurker, coming out of hiding from the state of Vermont in New England.
No tank yet, but I'm looking into purchasing a HL Sherman for myself. When I think "World War II tank," the Sherman is always what first comes to mind.
May have some possible battles next summer, as a friend is also looking into possibly purchasing something.

Welcome to the forum Taltosvt (Ford guy?). If you haven't found it yet we have a dedicated Sherman section:
viewforum.php?f=158 You should find plenty to skim through on our favorite tank.
Again welcome aboard.

"When I think 'World War II tank,' the Sherman is always what first comes to mind." Ah, my Wisconsin/Ohio/North Carolina/California sentiments exactly! Before you dive in on the M4 Sherman, let us know your choice and choice of seller. Even in the U.S. there are choices, and some of us are experienced with many of them. Oh! And if/when your friend decides to join in, have him choose, say, a Panzer III. If he goes for a Tiger, you will need at least five Shermans to even the odds. (Five Shermans? Do I have five Shermans? Unh... at least five.)

Welcome aboard from NJ.
My first was a sherman.
Now I have 6.
it's a contagion; but a good one.
