I'm just waiting on aluminium round to finish a hull brace.

I'm intending to put some machine screws through the side(3 or 4'ish) as hard fixings.

Initially i was also going to use a two part epoxy for the 'chassis rails' to hull fixing.

Would hot glue give a compromise between strong bond and ability to remove if needed at a later date?

In our circles this glue is called - hot snot...
it is convenient for gluing wires to the body, gluing appliques to the wall.
It is extremely short-lived, easily removed, sometimes flies off by itself...

What tank? This is my Challenger. The side rails are fixed with epoxy resin, and the cross bracing is fixed with the four bolts, so they can be removed for maintenance. My T72, on the other hand as the braces installed with epoxy, as maintenance can be done without the need to remove the braces.

It's for a Challenger.

I'm planning on drilling/tapping/screwing the cross braces to the main runners.

I think i'll just bite the bullet and epoxy it all to the hull... after making sure there will be no issues obviously.

I've had hot glue literally melt in the Texas sun. If you drill and tap screws, there isn't any need to glue the braces to the hull. I did the same on my HL ZTZ-99 and it works fine.

No chance of glue melting in the one day of sun we have in Scotland. A thousand solutions to the same problem though.

With mechanical fixings (screws) joining plastic to metal, depending on how many one uses, and especially with the inside of the moulding not being cared about as much as the outside during manufacture. I would be inclined to use some form of glue. Even one of those grab adhesives (not the thick gap filling type), kind of like a gasket, to smooth out any imperfections.

As for "hot" glue. Land fill sites come to mind
