Guten Abend!..(is actually 3:40am I'm on nightshift..Now where's my Pervitin? 8O :haha: ) Just joined up and wanted to put a wee post on about my D.I.D German Officer figure recently purchased, I had been eyeing up the 1/12 Rochobby Kubelwagen, and once was blown away by the detail and engineering of it I realised it really needed a driver figure to look right. not many 1/12 figures out there but found this wee fellow on Ebay, was not cheap but on recieving and unboxing was amazed at the detailing, uniform, medals and other accessories that came with him! ..Just wish there was RC 1/12 scale tank for the Michael Whittman figure now :D

I don't know if you really have an interest in 1/12 tanks, but a company called Figma has produced three tanks in this scale - a Panzer IV D, an "upgunned" Panzer IV D with schurtzen, and a Tiger I. They were brought out to go with Girls und Panzer characters, but are detailed a lot better than you'd think they would be. Look up Figma 1/12 on ebay to find them.

I am impressed by the quality of these figures (at the level of 1/6), it's a pity they are not 1/10 ;)

I noticed the figure when you posted him with some of your other not-so-wee collection. I just assumed he was 1/6 because of the detail, etc. I do have a somewhat related question: the cream, unh, khaki, unh, light-colored seats in the Kübelwagen: is that color roughly accurate? I know the engine detail, etc., on the Kübelwagen is nifty. (And, indeed, the dented bucket is most appropriate!)

Hi not sure if the seat colour was historically accurate for the Kubelwagen but did see a couple of pics online of original vehicles with various seats (canvas, vinyl etc) but only ever saw (this) one with the 'biscuit' type seats though

Yes, unless those seats in the real Kübelwagen photos are inaccurate, they sure look to be a canvas color to me. I have two Kübelwagen in 1/16, the metal RC one and the Tamiya static kit. I suspect I also have a book or two around here about the Kübelwagen, but, as the librarians say, I am "losing bibliographic control"; i.e. I can't readily find the books as they pile up ever more.

Nice! I was always a fan of the VW Beetle, then read up on the history of Porsche, then the Kubelwagen. there's so much reference material and images to work from, and sooo many variations  . I got the rochoobby one purely for the scale engineering of the suspension/drivetrain/2wd-4wd/hi & low gears etc but it looks really accurate too, am still trying to source a 1/12 MG 42 to complete the look

Thanks, I made the bucket from the foil cup from an old tea light candle and a paper clip! (then tapped a couple of times with end of a small screwdriver to dent)
