Back to my roots?

Hi there, I am Ben, about to hit the 60 years-mark. I am born in the Netherlands (some would still say Holland) and I am now living in Germany.
Ever since I was a teenager, I have been building plastic models, at the time mostly airplanes. I an an electrotechnical- and electronics engineer, but haven't done much in that field since I was about 28. Been in IT mostly. Last year, through a garage-sale, I stumbled upon an RC-helicopter and got interested in modelling again. Due to a bodged eye-operation, I have occasional field-of-depth-issues; I sometimes have a hard timefinding the right point where to put my Soldering-iron.. But I manage.
I am currently proud owner of a converted Graupner Leopard 2A5, which now has a Heng Long RX-18 controlling it's functions. I bought it fully converted and built up, but wasn't happy with it. So I bought an M41A3 Walker Bulldog from Heng Long, with an RX-14 board and no RC. There were several parts missing, so I have been building that up. in July, I ordered a TX-7.0 with a transmitter from Banggood and I converted my Bulli (My nickname for my M41A3) to 2,4GHz. Several other adaptations (Electrical and electronical) have been made, but nothing too special. It does have a Laser built in, which serves no purpose, other than looking cool. I know, I know, that has never been part of it's equipment, but I don't care, my Bulli is my favourite up till now and I use her as a platform to test several options.
I recently bought another M41, also with a 27MHz receiver, which was as good as new. I have made that one complete, tested it, replaced the crystals and defective controller and will be putting that one up for sale soon. I hope to find me a Tiger which I might overhaul and improve.
I love the combination of history (have been into WW2-stuff, from D-day onwards and everything that has been in the dutch military), modelling and weathering and electronics. A complete pckage for me. Now to find peers in my vicinity..
