Hi folks,
Starting a new build thread on porting some of the modifications I did over on the Haya Chieftain to the Centurion.
In my opinion, the Haya Centurion is still a well designed rc tank that is pretty good out of the box. However, the hobby side of me that will love to design new parts for it to enhance the vehicle experience.
All the 3D printed parts will be available for free download in cult3d to be shared with everyone.

Hope this can be useful.

The first project was a replacement battery holder, and the same battery holder can be used in the Haya Chieftain as well.
I used RC car LCG stick pack that has lots of capacity simply because in the Haya vehicle, you are not constrain on the size of battery compartment.
However, the width is on the existing holder is too wide for the stick pack. hence, a 3d printed holder is built to center the battery on the compartment.

The original Haya Centurion has the speaker mounted below the turret, which sometime, the height of the original Haya Speaker will block on the lower section of the BB unit, maybe with all the cabling from the turret.
I will prefer the TK50 board to be below the turret and the speaker be placed in the rear.
Hence, a new "floor board" has been built to move the position of the electronics, at the same time, maximize the space on the hull.

This extend the hull surface, and allow the electronics to be mounted easier on the board.

At the same time, the same mounting holes matched with the alternative TK50 board holder that I have previously built. So, now, the TK50 is bolted on the floor board instead.

The speaker hole spacing is 80mm, which allows the use of the excellent rctank.de Visaton speaker unit.

Work in progress to replace the gun recoil mechanism with a simplified 3d printed options.
Because I don't use this for BB firing, just gun flash unit. I have no need for a large HL BB gun unit. Simplified the design with the experience from Chieftain modification and done a version of gun unit for Centurion.
Seems to be working well so far.

The recoil servo has been replaced to a smaller popular MG90 size.

Weekend progressing to replace the elevation mechanism to a servo instead, this eliminate the ticking sound at max position.

The design is meant to be a direct replacement of the Heng Long elevation mechanism.

Hope that once done, it can used for other vehicle too.
PS: Geez... servo elevation is much faster than the HL mechanism.

Lost the little cupola cover during an event. No worries, and replicated it with a 3d printed version.
Now you can stick all kinds of figures on it.

I decided to build a replacement front latch that is a bit tigher tolerance than original.
Seems to work wells at the moment.

Haya Centurion comes with a Tamiya Battle System (TBS) Unit Base holder and connection, however, in a recent event, the connection is found to have problems because of the angled alignment when fitted. This alignment problem created an "unfair" advantage due to the 45 degree of the TBS unit reflection with respect to the internal design. Hence, a new 3D printed design has been built based on the experience from a similar unit for Haya Chieftain with adjustable mounting to align the angle of the TBS unit.

A base holder has been designed to be fitted on the BB tray, with exact alignment with existing mounting.

- IMG20241005141856.jpg (76 KiB) Viewed 1171 times
The base holder needs 2 x m2.5 Pan Head Screw to secure the Base unit connector to the holder.

Two unit bases have been designed. One that can be used with Original Tamiya IR Receiver, another is designed to be used with Impact IR Receiver.
Once done, a perfect alignment of the TBS unit to the front.
