Hi Everyone, my name is Simon, I live in the Dorset, south of England, I've been a model maker and painter for many, many years!
as a Kid I always wanted an RC tank, but sadly Tamiya were really out of reach financially to me. At a model fair at Bovington Tank Museum last Sept I came across several sellers of Rc tanks....after doing some research discovered Henglong! Now I and a few buddies have Henglong tanks and are all starting a journey....perhaps down a rabbit hole!
I've upgraded my Tiger 1, painted it, painted a tank commander a test picture below (I may have issues posting pictures as I don't have a photobucket style account!)

I have to say that my abilities with electronics are fairly limited! I can change a lightbulb :haha: I managed some soldering on my tiger, switched out the lights and hull MG. But now i have a taste for more.
My latest project is the conversion of a 1/16th scale revell VW Kafer kit into a 4x4 kommandeurwagen. This may or not be possible, I'll have to see.

I just wanted to say Hi to everyone, and a big thank you for all your posts. I have landed on this forum more than once to find some amazing work, so much of it inspirational. I thought it was about time I joined!

Hello and welcome to you, goodbye and farewell to your wallet and spare time. Not so much a rabbithole as a Mariana's Trench... ;-)

Welcome aboard Simon. Have you introduced your buddies to the forum? I was a photo bucket user but switched to imgur. Free and easy to use (nearly anyone can do it). This can be an expensive hobby but it doesn't need to be. A base tank and creative work can offer up some great results. I've done a few builds with minimal cash investment past the base HL kit.

Here is one thread that may help with pictures; viewtopic.php?t=34397

Thanks everyone, just joined Imgur and changed my photos, hopefully they will come out!
I will certainly check out that thread.
I'm hoping to learn enough on here to take the next step with all the electronics...this is a bit of a step up from scalextric ! hahahahaha
I will mention this forum to my buddies.

Not working so far...

On an imgur image (yours) click on the picture and it should provide "share links" Click on the BBcode copy button, then head to your forum post. On your full editor and preview window, there is a button above with a mountain and sun, that will give a {image/}{image} with the cursor flashing in the center right click where the cursor is and paste. That should fix the picture thing. I substituted {} for [] because the system would think I wanted to add a photo.

You could actually type that in, but the short cut is easier. It takes a couple tries, but it will come naturally very soon. My brother (Sassgrunt) who I look up to and has been here longer still hasn't posted a picture...

That worked! Pictures are visible! Terrific commander, nice weathering on the hatch!
