Just did this recently, made a video showing how to do this and what you need.

Ive seen some complicated work arounds to have gun smoke and retain airsoft function, but the HL gun smoke kit comes with almost everything you need, with only minimal amounts of surgery, no gluing, no welding.

Only thing I’ll add here is that, on the advice of my local hobby store, for the smoke unit leak I bought some high temperature silicone to use instead of my quick hot glue fix.

After having searched for a while for a solution for this I’m surprised at how relatively simple and elegant this is.

If you have some other gun smoke card (Elmod, Taigen) you could probably buy one of those pneumatic barb/screw bits and replicate the process. At $70 (from MotionRC) it’s kind of steep, but you have to have that card to make it do.

I have a couple of Elmod gun smoke cards. At some point I’m going to try to rig up on of those just using two wires instead of 5 and see how that works. I feel like the HL card maybe puts out a little too much smoke? Personal preference though.
