For painting with a brush, I recommend acrylic paints (e.g. Vallejo, AK, MIG) in "earth" colors like Khaki, Beige, Buff, Green Grey, Olive Drab etc.

Paint them up as Kaczor says, then use some darkish washes to accentuate the straps, buckles, folds, and creases. Apply a variety of washes to give the colours that worn and exposed to the weather streaking and mottling. Add some stains, a bit of mud spatter, and wear marks, a little bit of powdered pastels for dust. Add little bits of detail like different colours for buckles, lettering where needed. Rad's Red Cross markings are a nice punch of colour. And don't forget to strap it all down as Rad has done so well on his Sherman.
Experiment!
Mike.

Jofaur86: I think you are also looking for specific colors to use on the helmets, packs, etc. I have the information, but I am not home now and will be away from home until next week, as I am working at the International Plastic Modelers' Society convention this week. If you still need help next week, send me a PM and I can get specifications for colors and paints to you.
