[Germany 1945] Torro Jagdtiger

Had the opportunity to buy this old Jagdtiger at a great price from Mike in our club so I couldn't let it pass. Not so much of a build as he has done the hardest with the chopping off of the fenders and also had an excellent solution to mounting the apple with a magnetized base for IR battling. Not sure how I'm proceeding with this one as the easiest would be to do an ABT 653 331 version which has been done to death and by far better modellers than me. Plus I already have 4 tanks done in hinterhalt. So I think I will research some other tanks to do something different camo wise. In the meantime I think I will just do minor stuff like weld lines to it while I gather books, parts, paint and decals/stencils together and just battle with it the rest of the summer as is. The DKLM gearbox is superb and is worth half the price I paid for the whole tank. I wish my Tamiya KTs drove as well as this one does. TK22A/KT is the board driving it with an FS-i6s TX. Only thing I've done so far is remove the peeling decals off and added the barrel mounted IR emitter. I figured if I start this thread it forces me to record the various things I'll do to it.

Whether it's a new in box build or a rework of your own or somebody else's work. it's still a build. Take your time research and make it your own. Great starting point. What an unusual place for the MG mount, I wouldn't want to be on the engine deck when that was needed!

I'll be watching I'm trying to finish up my 3D printed 1/10th Jagdtiger build. I settled on a Dunkelgelb and Rotbraun camo pattern for mine. I printed the skirts and decided not to use them... I think it looks way better without.

I've followed your 1/10th build. They are monstrous in 1/16 never mind 1/10. I have some skirts from my Tamiya KT so I might put 2 or 3 on in the middle but yes they look better without. Probably going to ditch the rear mudguards but I need a picture of the back of a real one with the mudguards off to see how they were fixed. I don't think they were hinged

Ohhhh this is gonna be good too Panzermech!

Since your club buddy already cut the fenders I'm guessing they are similar to the King Tigers in that the upper Hull needs to be extended down to meet the lower hull?

Now that's a fine "Germany 1945" project with the fine electronics and mechanicals all set to go. Yay! Since you are way ahead of me in skill, I have only one suggestion: is there some way to make the AA MG rotate and pivot? Maybe it would be easy--maybe not.

Nice project ! Looks like the rear plate took a lot of abuse ! About time to replace it !
