Pre tank modelling

Hello,
I was only snagged by tanks a few years ago after a substantial break from modelling. I was a diehard Boat modeller.
The boats below are all scratch built and RC, although I’ve not sailed any boat in quite a few years, in fact the second boat, USS Canberra has never been on the water. my wife thinks the boxes take up too much room in the shed 😀.

The first two are both Vietnam era guided missile cruisers , both prototypes were converted from WW2 era Baltimore heavy cruisers . Built to 1/96th scale

You may notice there is not a bit of weathering on either model. It’s not really a thing at 1/96th scale , in fact it’s very common not to weather boats at most scales. They are displayed with a factory fresh finish.

If anyone complains about no weathering, just remind the grump that the Captain demands that everything be kept in Ship Shape! I wish there were some RC boat club around here so I could see them in action.

Thank for the kind words chaps,
I know only too well about fussy captains I was in Royal Navy and spent man many hours painting and polishing .

When I was in the army, I read in a wall:

"God gave you a soul,
Your mother gave you a body,
Your country gave you a weapon,

Keep cleen the three of them."

I liked it a lot. And that is what I say to those who say that some models of mine are not weathered, lol.

About those ships, Jesus Christ, what a work!

After five years in its box I finally got around to fitting radio gear and sailing the USS Canberra.
A very relaxing few hours on the lake .

From what I see, those are one big kit with about 73 crazy detailed little kits built into them. Stellar builds! What are the dimensions of each? From the pictures on the table, they must be at least 2m long?
Bravo!

Mike.
