Ouch! I guess that is part of the hobby. I think I carry my models more carefully than I did my kids (please don't tell my wife or kids).

I am very interested in this build. Not that I have any interest in building another KT but there are so many of those old Tamiya KT's on ebay etc. Will be interesting to see one brought up to today's standards. I have also had 3 drive off the table excursions even in my relatively short RC tanker life

for the turret, the original system being a huge reduction mechanism, taking up a lot of space, I considered adapting an HL mechanism, I already started by reinforcing the base, always the 1.5 mm aluminum glued , screwed, and put an HL part, but a lot of trouble installing the HL engine mountings (error on my part, lack of thought) This not having been very conclusive, I adapted a Tiger I mechanic with its engine, but also, it's difficult to position the engine support columns correctly, it works, but not great
the ideal would have been to replace the non-compliant upper chassis with a more modern one? but already seen the investment (I prefer not to count)

So I have an old Tamiya KT from my dad I’m planning on bringing up to modern standards. To get around the incompatibility of the old turret (traverse only with the pin that goes down the center of the chassis, no recoil, no elevation, a little red led for barrel flash) I just bought an unpainted Torro KT upper hull/turret combo.

I don’t know if you can call it a Tamiya anymore, but I will be keeping the old dual clutch gear box with the single motor and all of the rest of the lower hull. Going to reuse an old V3 KT MFU and a Torro speaker too.
