Cannon smoker not triggering? (CS TK-16 mainboard)

My tank came directly from HL with just a BB/recoil unit in the turret, which I did not want. HL, bless em, and at my request, sent me the metal servo barrel recoil and elevation units to delete the BB function. I then removed all the HL 7.1 system to fit the CS-TK16 mainboard, the dedicated TK16 slip-ring unit with turret daughter-pcb as I want to use my FlySky i6 10ch TX/RX. It DID come with a working exhaust smoking unit connected directly to the HL 7.1 MB. This was reconnected to the TK16 MB via the CS-MY30 control pcb and works perfectly including on/off from the TX. Tried the same idea with the cannon smoker but nothing? (the oil-heater unit does work ok and switches on/off from the TX) But, no matter what I try I can not get the blower/fan unit to trigger a puff of smoke as it does not seem to make the 6v required to fire it from the control pcb?? Completely at a loss just now!

Rant over, just VERY frustrated at the mo`

I`ve been advised to repost this `situation` I have, on the Electronics section in the hope that one of you electronics wizards can point me in the right direction. I feel its got to something I`ve missed/simple? For ref. when I fire the gun the trigger voltage from the TK-16 cannon smoke signal port (P12) and CS MY30 cannon smoke control PCB output (to fan/blower unit) is only, after 5 x consecutive fires ranges from 1.70, 2.22, 2.63, 2.25 and 2.91 volts. So way short of the volts (6v) req`d to trigger the timed fan and smoke puff. ANY HELPFUL ADVISE GREATFULLY ACCEPTED! TIA ;)

:) Hello, have you measured the voltage? OK, but this happens at the time of shooting? what voltage do you have before the shot? (if measurable?) in addition did you control the intensity (in amperes) during the shot? it seems that something is causing this tension to drop, mechanical blockage, high consumption of the smoker or something else? Is your battery fully charged? the other functions pose no problem? This phenomenon only occurs with smokers?

 Thanks for the quick reply! Here`s what I have so far.........

#1 - yes the battery IS fully charged (3800 mah 7.4 v li-ion)
#2 - at the TK-16 (P12) barrel smoke signal port = switch ON is 3.30v, when FIRE drops to 0.60v
#3 - at the dedicated TK-16 slip-ring loom daughter-board (pcb) smoker out-port = switch ON is also 3.31v, when FIRE dropd to 0.22v
#4 - at the CS MY30 (for TK-16) smoke control board out port (to fan unit) = ON is 0.0v, when FIRE is 5.71v (Seems All good so far at this point??)
#5 - at REAR of fan/pump terminals (directly from MY30 control board fan-out port) = when idle is 0.0v, when FIRE is 0.03v!? so NO fan operation......

Hope this info helps........(fyi, the oil heater via the MY30 control board is working great, loads of smoke! Just NO fan/blower??) Oh, also, if you directly power-up the fan/blower with a 6v battery pack, it runs perfectly!? :headbang:

Many thanks, Chris.

:) Good evening, if I look at the wiring diagram? I see on the left, red plug J 2 indicated "smoke generator power supply" and on the right side at the top P2 indicated "smoke signal" ?
Below J 2 there is J3, indicated as "bistable power supply"? Wouldn't J2 be for the smoker resistance, J3 the fan? and P2 the signal that would trigger operation? I think as an electrician, and not knowing this type of board, it's just suppositions, I think you don't have any instructions 8O :headbang:

 Good afternoon, jofaur86, to clear things abit, re. the TK-16 wiring diagram.

The `J2` lead from the TK-16 is as you say, the power output for the `smoker` (doesn`t say which one, I`ve got 2!) My idle exhaust smoker is connected to this output and works perfectly. The cannon/turret smoker, again, has its own power supply lead via the TK-16 slip-ring daughter board (pcb) and seems to power the smoker heater with no probs (switchs on/off ok from my TX) FYI, I have no idea WHERE they get this supply from, its via the TK-16 board and slip-ring loom and it does NOT appear to come from the dedicated smoker power-supply lead at the TK main-board (not exterally at least)??

The right-side TK-16 port (labelled `P12`) IS the cannon smoker trigger port. As you can see from my other posted info, this gives a `FIRE` trigger voltage of around 3.3v all the way, through the slip-ring turret pcb upto the smoke control pcb (CS MY30 unit) which then outputs the re`d 5.71v. However it will not spin the 6v smoke fan?? ***** Looks to me that I have the voltage but not enough current/amps required to start the fan?? ***** Ideas? what says you??

As for the `J3` power lead at the TK, all the info I`ve ever got, definately shows this as only POWER for the SWB turret stabilizer unit and is picked up, via the slip-ring daughter board, from a dedicated port to the SWB bistable unit in the turret. Fyi, this seems to power up ok and is on/off controlled via my TX.

The forum topic link you gave me, I have read this many times and while informative didn`t help. The MAIN thing I wanted to see here was the, now deleted, posted pdf instuction sheet, trans`d from Chinese?? WHY DELETED?? Could have been SOOOO helpful, no?

:problem: Thanks for your input so far, it keeps the `little-grey-cells` active!

:D Bonjour, question ? le fameux connecteur rotatif ( 360 °) contient il le nombre de conducteurs nécessaires?avez vous mesurer ? voir si toute les continuitées :(
I seem to have read one day, on this forum or another (no longer exists..) that there were sometimes problems with this type of connector? Yes, too bad for the PDF? but some documents expire after a certain time....

Hey Jofaur86, Take a look at this `just now` video (if it uploads?) of my, now fully WORKING, Merkava MK4 cannon smoke unit! Grrrrr.... vid will not upload!! Sooo I`ll post up a couple of pics showing the new (to day) HengLong cannon smoke unit set I received from Toucan Hobby.

After being told/advised, so many times, that this set `will not work` with the CS TK16 mainboard, all I can say is a resounding `BOWLOCKS` :wtf: OH yes it does, if you use the HL control pcb`s trigger/signal lead and connect it to the TK-16 `CANNON FLASH` port (single signal wire) and NOT the P12 cannon smoke port on the TK-16 board, the HL smoke unit WORKS great. BEWARE OF DUFF, MONEY GRABBING, ON-LINE INFO!

The rest is history, hours of time wasted, money spent and a degree of self-doubt. :headbang:

Thanks for your input, bud, appreciated
