Hi Guys
just a quickie. I am about to start painting my late tiger 1 with zimmerit coating. I have made some bits of zimmerit damaged, but what i want to know is this. in the parts where the zimmerit is missing what colour do i paint the damaged area ?, Gun metal maybe ??

you should paint it buff or an oatmeal color..............cheers oz

I leave chipped milliput the way it is, its not too far removed from the proper colour

buff or oatmeal? would that be regardles of the top colour of the tank or are you saying always buff/oatmeal ?

saying always or never or definitely in this hobby can be a bad idea, but from the few color pics i have and having stripped a Pz IV of zimm a couple of years ago i can say when i scraped off the zimm the color underneath was buff/oatmeal.................cheers oz.

on the first pic you can see where the zimm has chipped off, but the second one has no zimm around the strike mark................oz

buff would be the best(oil paints) or you could try lifecolor

I read somewhere that Zim was a mix of Plaster- Wood Chips - and a PVA type glue. In most colour pics I've seen it's an off white pale brown colour

great link about Zimmerit,one thing that stands out,why was the panther being faster the one model design to try all patterns? Just noticed that stat.Hope to try some zimm on the next build.Blake
