Picked up a used HL T-72 a little more than a year ago and time for it to get a bench makeover. The PO had a friend give it a "winter camouflage" which wasn't particularly neat, and it had the usual bits of twisted off sprue on each part induced by both HL workers and the PO. It's a TK6.0 model which was my first introduction to the "new" HL stuff. Yes, I'm behind the times but gotta say I'm impressed. Plan is to give it the usual parts clean up for sprue hangnails, seams, and joints. Add a bunch of surface texture, surface conduit, mantlet canvas cover, better skirts, and other things I've seen and learnt from the T-72 artistes on this forum. Initially, I was thinking of going all tri-colour Georgian Army on it, but I'm wanting even more colour in my life after painting acres of KV-2 in green. This Indian Army pointillist camouflage scheme caught my eye so here's goes nuthin'! And I am thoroughly digging the half fuel drums on the backside...plus ditching beam...plus big ol' canvas tarp on the snorkel... plus red-ended tow cable! Mike.

Where do you guys pick up these used specimens? I often look and find people trying to sell obviously old rashed specimens for current new prices.

As per the bedazzled camo pattern. I really like it. That'll definitely be a splash of color in your life. I'm also interested how you'll pull it off.

Wow, you go guy...nothing like an ambitious camo pattern to ruin...I mean "enhance" your enjoyment of the hobby.

By the way, if you want to spruce up the rear end with some better grill detail, the Trumpeter T-72 grills fit nicely with only slight fitting:

Maybe you could paint the yellowish (?) base color and then have Rad Schuhart make you lots of little stencils shaped like Ls and Ts as in the drawing of the camouflage scheme. Or you could do little rectangles, as in that for which the Indian Army seems to have settled. I, too, think the 1/2 fuel drums are fantastic. In dire straights, they could work for a BBQ.

How are you placed for the missing bits Mr Coleman ?

Coincidentally, an Aliexpress vendor had a smokin' deal on the full sprue kit for a T72 just after I finished stripping everything off of the tank. Good thing because the PO and HL's glue monkey went mucho heavy on the adhesives and there was lots of removal damage.

When I first saw the tank on his coffee table it actually looked pretty good as a camo scheme. I think it was his buddy's first time with an airbrush. Really, just needed some masking off of things. Otherwise, it really had that Henglongian look!
