TRUMPETER/WSN/TAMIYA T34-85 OPERATION PEACE FOR GALLILEE LEBANON 1982
As happens in this hobby, a body has a thing that another body wants and then a negotiation begins to get said thing.
I know a guy that wants a thing that Mr Hugill has, so a deal has been made.
Part of that deal is this converted T34/85 which has been nicely fitted out with Tamiya electronics and recoil parts, Trumpeter and WSN components & running gear, a solid tensioner system and nice metal tracks.
Another part of the deal is I get to paint this on Mr Hugills behalf.......................
Now thats a big thing for me.
Doing a model for me is one thing, doing one for someone else is quite another. We have all seen the stuff that Mr Hugill does and its top notch.
Yes, I will feel the pressure to get it right but at the same time I can revel in the freedom that comes from the trust & confidence placed in me from the two interested parties.
Ok, onwards..................
Mr Hugill has sent me some pics of a PLO Army T34 that was in combat in Lebanon in 1982 & its well cool.
He has also requested some features on it that Im sure I can accommodate!
This model is complete, but lacked the interest & motivation to see it be a stand out. If it wasn't for the fact that its worth too much for my budget, I'd have this myself with bells on
I have lots of bit to hand that I can use to complete any gaps & try to get the look Mr hugill is chasing.
First off is getting rid of the decal, Im into it with a wire brush.

Well you do have quite the job before you. Looks like you are starting with a pretty good base!

Great camo scheme!
Re: TRUMPETER/WSN/TAMIYA T34-85 LEBANON 1982
Ohhhh fun! We're going to be repainting a T34 at the same time Mr. B.
I like that camo scheme but I'm not fond of the candy cane barrel.

Seems the Tiger renaissance has reached its sunset(for this round ) and the rise of the redux has begun.
The camo is very different & not going to be easy to pull off, and the barrel is part of that quirkiness which has grabbed my attention.
I have a T34/85 new ready for some version so I may yet get one of these myself.
Although an example from the Balkans Civil War is also appealing.

Re: TRUMPETER/WSN/TAMIYA T34-85 LEBANON 1982
Dealing first with the turret and the persistent decal on it
The thing was as stubborn as a garden weed & would not come off completely.
So, plan B. Smashed a putty/Mr Surfacer mix onto it. Ha, sucked in decal, your done.
Went into the Ali-baba's cave that is my spares /leftovers stash with an image in my head that I knew was real, but do ya think I could find the stuff'n things ??
Searched & searched, maybe I was hallucinating (nope, too early for that yet )...............YEEHAAaaaaaaa found them.
Whats the triumphant moment all about ??
A sprue of tiny details. Cupola vision slits and turret lifting hooks.
There were 2 vision slits missing from the model and those are way too hard to make for the reward, and I lost a turret lifting point when trying to remove the PITA decal.
I have replacement grab handles, lashing points, smoke canister drums, T55 auxiliary fuel drums, front mudguards and every other bit needed to restore this to where it needs to be.
Lesson kiddies- never chuck anything out!

"Smashed a putty/Mr Surfacer mix onto it. Ha, sucked in decal." So this combination is a decal remover or decal hider? This could be useful!
