When every thing is finalized and to your liking, secure them in with a few drops of super glue. If you have any magnets left over, what you can do is drop them onto the magnets that you have secured in the lower hull via the screw openings. The more magnets in line the more magnetic force applied.

Works a treat on the Tiger and I'm sure this could be applied to other tanks too.

Great idea and tutorial STEINER! I had thought of using magnets to hold stowage onto my tanks so I could still remove it and access screws etc... but I stupidly didnt think to hold the hull on with them instead ::)

My only query is would they have any negative effect on the RC or other electrical equipment on board? Can any techno experts out there clarify that?

As yet I have had no adverse effects on the electrics or motors. I never thought about using the magnets for stowage. ( a great idea ) Do you Know, you can get these magnets down to very small sizes, 1-2mm in dia. They are that strong, you could place one on the underside of the hull and bury one say in a figure that you want to ride on the tank. Im sure it would hold it in place even when the tank is rolling.

When I get a chance, I might give it a go.

Thats just what i was thinking. Should be able to hold on figures, boxes, fuel cans... anything you'd see on a tank. Can also hold hatches secure without needing to construct working hindges. If they're that strong, bits dropping off shouldnt be a problem. If they do you'd just need to run a bit of steel over the ground until its picks up the missing piece!

What attracked me to the idea was its give you options of running the tanks with or without "extras" and showing no visable fixings.

Thats another great idea ( removable hatches without hinges ) I opened a hatch on the Tiger for the off/on switch, vol/control. It was a nightmare hinging it. I'm pleased you posted on this thread crispy as you have some great ideas.

Were bouncing ideas off each other mate. I only just thought of the hatches. I'd been toying with opening up the engine hatch on a HL Tiger/Sturm conversion & hiding switches under it, but decided i didnt want the hassle of making the hindge work correctly... If only we'd had this little exchange last year eh?

I wonder if you could work them so they'd be strong enough to hold on the side armour i intend to add to on my Stug 3... but allow it to break away should it get caught on something while running. That could save a lot for unwanted damage and hours of repair

I would imagine it could be done/possible, another interesting idea. You should check out the link. I have only used small circular magnets, but their site carries many variations/shapes/sizes and I would have thought there would be something that could work for that application.

I like the idea alot with the magnetic attached stuff on the tank. I have for a long time ago, done this with my commanders for easy swap, but never thought about mounting magnetic attached stowage.

Why not take the magnets a step further? Why not use magnet to turn the tank on and off? When you place the figure in the tank it not oly adheres but activates the on switch. Or use the Jack Block as a magnetic switch? The possabilites are endless. Great idea Herr Steiner!
