Ok, fess up ???  Did you lot know that tamiya Pershing wheels fit straight onto Hen long Pershing axles allowing us to have nice spongey rubber road wheels on our hen Long super pershings? Cos I was mighty surprised :o :o last night when I stripped off the hen long wheels and with a quick adjustment to the hen long axles the multipart tamiya wheels and tyres went straight on. Now I havnt driven it yet( they will probably all pop off and make this post look stoopid) so dont hold your breath. If anyone else finds this a revelation let me know and ill post up how to do it.  I couldnt believe my eyes, i had envisaged all sorts of troubles making these things fit and it ended up so simple.

makes a change eh?

I guess Heng long copied the pershing in more ways than just the basic shape

Yet another Tamiya Heng Long hybrid....I love it.  8)
We all must admit that we owe a great deal of gratitude to H L for stirring up the pot of RC tanking and firing up the competition with Tamiya. I made a developmentally stagnant but fun hobby really take off and alive with choices. Mattoro and WSN/Trumpetter just sweetened the pot.  What a great time to be in RC tanking.......  ;D ;D ;D

Apparently heat shrink can be used to get rubber wheels, just slip it over, cut it off, heat it, and trim it. Nice and easy and best of all cheap!

Not my invention by the way, I saw it a few weeks ago in another post.

No idea but the wheels seem to work. You do though need a 2nd set of bushes or bearing rings to sit behind the wheel  to push the tamiya wheel away from the arm. On the hen pong theres a plastic ring moulded into the wheel to do that. Ill bung some piccies up tonight. Seems fine but whats the betting all the wheels will fall off on the first patrol ::)

My Dad did a nice job of rubberizing his Pershing wheels with a thin walled bicycle inner tube. He cut donuts, then crazy glued the donut around the plastic wheel. Seems (so far) to work well, and less metal track noise than before.

Please, do post the pictures and a good how-to.  I've been looking for ways to make my Bulldog more realistic and this might be a way to use Tamiya swing arms in the 3d and 4th positions, too.  ;D
