DESERT Colour Leopard 2A6

That's exactly what I thought, it does look good but it may not be authentic!

I was hoping that something like this 3 colour camoflage scheme was actually employed on a real life Leopard 2A6 somewhere (or even a Leopard 2A7 - as I could live with this slight discrepancy!) but to date I have not found any proof that this could be the case!

Now that just has to be very tempting.

If I can find out what colours are used, and find some other views of that camouflage scheme (so I can see more areas of the tank), I think I will have a go at it!

I think you have helped me make my mind up.

Thank you Ad Lav !

That is a very handy reference Ad Lav.

It looks like the German Sand Brown, German Sand Beige and German Grey Beige are the three colours used on the 2A7 camoflage scheme.

Tamiya Leopard 2A6 Turret Sag

Post by zooma »

As I was connecting the 5000mah NiMH battery from my Tamiya Leopard 2A6 I noticed just how heavy it felt, so I weighed it at 416 g. My spare 4600 NiMH battery weighed 417g so about the same.

The Li-Ion battery that came in my HAYA Chieftain felt positively lightweight in comparison so I put that on the scale and it only weighed 123g - significantly lighter despite being about the same size.

A light weight battery can only help delay the infamous "turret sag" so I am going to dig out the 2 cell LiPo batteries that I used in some of my smaller fast powerboats that are the same size to see if they are also comparatively light in weight, and if so I will use them and consign my heavy NiMh batteries for use in tanks that carry them lower in the hull.

All my small LiPo batteries and 7.2 volt NiCad and NiMh batteries use the same XT60 plugs so I can swap them all around quite easily.

If it happens to be the HL battery like this one it would explain the weight difference.

I like them (for size) but I don't fully trust them yet.

Yes Eric,

Those three bigger batteries are like the HAYA battery pack that I weighed at 123g.
