Hear are two of my 1/16 RC Kubelwagen builds one I still have the other was a commission, I didn’t like the standard RC that came with the Kubel being all or nothing so I changed it to full proportional I have also changed the motor to give more power but it also makes the Kubel quite quick as a result.
The commission is the on with the canvas hood.

Obligatory no, but I would say they are attention grabbing at the moment with some of the conversions that have been done, one that would be interesting is the light armoured car conversion

As far as I’m aware AD haven’t offered the Kubel as a kit though I could be wrong, anyhow these two are the now discontinued Tamiya Kubel’s

Mark, very well done.I have always wanted the VW THING to paint as a staff car but they go for 10,ooous in good shape so I will have to settle for the 1/16 version. You and Martin have really done well, and really like the picture of your Tiger behind the kubelwagen, kind of gives scale to the Tiger and the car, just seems to enhance the detail of each other.I had asked Martin about the kit as I have found the non-rc version at the local shop for 50.oous,I want to do a grey grossdeutschland version,feb.43 to go with my Tiger.I would value your opinion about the kit,or any tips you may have, also was there a reason why you did not do a grey version. Glad you liked the build I have also done 3 Dragon Kubelwagen’s in 1/6 converted to RC I may show them one day.

The kit fell together with no problems and as with all models there is a small amount of detail missing the biggest problem with the kit is the radio gear which is all or nothing it’s a real pain I chose to rip it all out and change to full proportional using a proper radio I also changed the motor to give more power this I got but I also gained a lot more speed, as for changing a static kit to RC I think this would be a challenge as most of the RC chassis is completely different to give greater strength and also allow things like batteries, steering and wheel rotation you may find it difficult to get a gear box to fit inside the Kubel and if you can get the parts they may cost more than buying an RC Kubel when one turns up on evilbay, some time ago I managed to get hold of a Tamiya Kubel gearbox this is for my Schwimmwagen conversion which hasn’t been touched in a while maybe when I get bored of the Tiger build.

I didn’t use grey as I wanted my Kubel to be placed around 1944 so grey would not have been used after the second half of 1943 and the Tiger is from SS Sch.Pz-Abt 102 Normandy

Tks for the advice,I did not mean to imply I was converting to r/c.I am just building static, but I was interested in your experience with the kit and I was not sure that the kubelwagens changed color in mid 43 like the tanks.Hopefully I can build something as well as you and Martin, just a little slower as I will have to drag it behind my Tiger,I would like to See your 1/6 scale kubelwagens,is this a kit or static conversion?Sax

Sorry I got carried away my misunderstanding, the static Kubel has doors that can open and a full engine also the wheels have full detail instead of an over scaled nut there are other things in the static kit that are not in the RC kit like the canvas roof, Gerry cans and some weapons, after mid 43 all German vehicles where issued in yellow vehicles that where already in the field where repainted as and when was necessary you would also have yellow cam painted on the grey base in net and cross pattern. I’m sure with a little patience you could build a model to a high standard just take your time with the build and practice your painting.

The 1/6 Kubelwagen’s are static conversions using a Tamiya chassis they lack detail and have a few mistakes
