1/14th Tamiya Scania

Post by Ad Lav »

Picked up a Tamiya Scania in need of a repaint with mint tanker trailer.

Full sounds and lights with the Tamiya MFC-03.

Trailer has rear lights and coupler sounds etc.

Had one of these years ago which I converted into a Dragon Wagon. Not doing that again :)

Simple strip, rebuild and repaint on this with a new Carson Posion motor and steering upgrade.

Colour has changed from red to grey. Metallic grey from Halfords and clear coated.

Going to do a false wall to hide the electrics and for the interior next.

In the process of finding a new Griffin sticker for the rear sides of the cab.

Black or silver?!

It had always been a plan to do one, but after your build I said why bother!

We used to have a few of them in the yard and some of the drivers loved the Volvo F12s and some preferred the Scania, When I could get out of the office I chose the Volvo,
The range switch was in the front centre of the gear lever, The Scanias range switch was on the right side of the gear lever, In a left hooker that was fine but in a British Truck you move your leg and there is a good chance of moving the range switch and that could be very expensive.
Time was to fill a contract with "Ford" we took on a Transcontinental,
Disaster,
Drivers complained of seasickness and they meant it, Combination of soft truck suspension, Soft Cab suspension and seat suspension, Nice gearbox though.
I think I am about to upset someone :haha:

I do like the Volvo they offer, shame the trucks are more expensive than the tanks!

Because they have smoother, more positive control?

Gosh, imagine trying to steer a truck with trailer using the early jerky Heng Long control system, especially in reverse :haha: :lolno:
