Shoot for a version 6.0 and up board. You have four recoil settings, none and up. I like the "just a touch" setting since a tank chassis recoils just a bit. But no barrel recoil? Can never go back!

Beier. Best board nowadays. Too bad the Elmod Fusion Pro is discontinued.
Control board and hobby grade radio top priority. Tank selection is a secondary consideration. Only my humble opinion.

Did I read correctly, 250. EURO? for the SFR-1-HL? Is that the correct one? And I'd need a hobby Tx as well?

They are crazy expensive but the best boards available in my opinion except for the Elmod Fusion Pro which is unfortunately discontinued. You can add any sound effects you want and the motor control parameters are practically limitless. They are truly amazing and a hobby unto themselves.
I have both boards and use the larger one in my Civil War gunboat project build and the smaller HL in my Panzer III.
The Radiomaster TX16S is the most awesome radio of all and can be programmed for dozens of models and works with all receiver brands. I have all my RC toys programmed on it including my Fokker Triplane. The radio saves them all. Just select the model you want to drive/fly from the stored list you create. Win win situation.😁

I am sure Jimster would agree that the man to talk to about the Beier board is our own Rad Schuhart.
