Hi gang, been looking at getting a RC tank when i have the money. Would love a Scimitar CVR(T) (but never seen a RC one as yet), but will properly go with a Sherman or oil leaking Chieftain.
Been trying to trace the Bristol RC group, but see they never had a home. Love the Rc Tank Warfare icon. Fear Naught one and all.

Hello and welcome from Argyll and Bute. There used to be a company in there America that made a Scimitar in 1/16, but I donβt think they are made anymore. I have no further information. Go modern and get a Chieftain. To many old cogers on here with old stuff. Runs and hides.

Welcome to the Forum
Before going down the Tamiya, Heng Long, Taigen/Torro route you might like to look at HAYA's range of r/c armour, they make an ever expanding range of post war British armour, Haya are based in Wales and their prices are roughly equivelent to the top end of Taigens products. I have a 1/16 r/c Centurion by them and am pleased with it, Lots of mods becoming available for it as we speak, The Chieftain and the Challenger are also part of the range.
You can buy a Sherman from them but it will not be a Haya product. There are cheaper models of the same product from other dealers available.

Welcome along
I believe you can get a 3D printed Scimitar or similar nowadays!

The 3D files for a scimitar are available here:
https://spyker-workshop.dpdcart.com/product/147208 - be warned tho, he doesn't make the gears anymore, much less sells the kits.
If you can find somebody to print them out for you, then good luck. I've been building a couple up over Christmas, and between the lengthy list of hardware needed and the cost of getting the gears commecially printed in Nylon, its not a cheap...

I agree with Meter rat and jarndice: go for a nice Haya UK model of a UK tank (
https://www.hayaltd.co.uk/). That way you can become familiar with RC tank electronics and characteristic and have fun, too! (I am an old codger, but I have a stash of post-war and modern tanks. I'm itching to get to one of them when my modeling table is cleared of two long-lived projects. When I do get to one, I am going to pester Meter rat for information. He'd better be ready.
