My Oddball Sherman.

Ok. I'm taking the plunge. I decided to do my take on Oddballs Sherman from Kelly's Heroes. So far I made the front fenders ,from a rattle can spray can lid, The rear mud flaps from some plastic drawer dividers, Replaced the short Barrel 75 with a long version, with the threaded end to show the removed muzzle break, then moved the aerial to the side where the Yugo shermans installed it, then made the second aerial base on the turret, fina;lly made some straps for the bags that will hand all over the place. This is just the beginning,

"Front fenders from a rattle can spray can lid..rear mud flaps from some plastic drawer dividers": nifty! You are resourceful with materials. How did you make the straps for the bags? I am wondering about a way to make them look realistic, but strong enough to stay in place when an RC tank is run.

I went to a local fabric store and got some thin leather strips, then I CA'd them to the plastic ruck sacks. . But yeah, for the other pieces. I had to fall back on my old modeler skills.

He would, ya know, he loved his colors. But, that Metallic green is OD green now.

I remember once going to a hobby store in Minneapolis with a modeler who consistently wins national and international awards. I was amazed at what he grabbed and the ideas he had for the uses. For some reason, when it comes to builds, these kinds of ideas just don't come to me.

Thanks Chef. Yeah, I just repainted it and shortened the barrel by 1.5 inches. It was way too long. So, It's now a better shade of OD. Plus I got my open spoke bogie wheels in, so they're painted and about to be put on. I really fell back on my old Free flight days finding new ways to tackle this conversion.

See, It's amazing what you'll find of use at the fabric store, or just around your house. Years of Free flight modeling taught me many a valuable lesson. But, yeah, I didn't want my furnishings held on my gravity and prayer, so I came up with making some straps. I'm glad it helped you as well.
