Rc tank virgin looking for help

Hello all
I am a complete newbie when comes to rc tanks but not to Rc modelling. I have built and raced cars and boats, built and flown gliders and scale helicopters, but my last model was about 20 years ago.
I am in the process of building a 3D printed 1:10 scale king tiger 2.
The build is going well and have completed the tub and suspension (images attached). I have a pair of 540 motors to drive it, and a couple of servos and that’s it.
Now looking for advice on other items you would recommend for control.
I am looking to add smoke, sound and air soft gun along with the standard tank and turret movement, I may try to modify the plans to add recoil
Need to make up a shopping list.
Looking forward to your help and advise
Alistair

Welcome to the forum. If you intend to stay longer, please visit the welcome thread.
As for your question, the simplest answer is to use a ready-made solution, e.g. Heng Long TK 7.1 board.

It is/was. Welcome aboard. I would gladly help with the question if I had an answer. There will be some very talented folks along shortly that have experience with aftermarket control systems. My use has been stock RTR systems.
Great start to the Royal Tiger. It's a large tank in 16th, should be impressive in 10th.
Like the R2 unit too.

And there lies the answer to the confusion, a question within your introductory post in the Introduce Yourself section.

Wow! What a great project, Jaberwocky Alistair! Welcome! I stick to 1/16 scale, but you are going to find lots of 1/10 and 1/6 help here on RCTW and I enjoy reading about 'em all. Welcome!
