Hello friends!

My Heng Long Tiger 1 arrived today and I am in love!!  I could not believe it when I opened the box, the thing it dwarfs my Panzer III I heard it was bigger but not this big!!!  Although its stock plastic it is such a smooth ride compared to the Panzer, it doesn't even pull to one side and the gears and motors are quiet.  I'm dead chuffed with it's durability!

One interesting thing is that it makes a much louder, throatier noise than Panzer III which is nice and the sound seems to be more proportional.  Why on earth is that?  The sound could be playing slower, is there a setting somewhere on the RX18 or did RX 14 and such make a different noise??  I don't know what board it has as I haven't opened her up yet.

All I know is I am so happy that I got this and that it wasn't the Pantiger I had accidentally ordered!!!  Its getting the metal hull most certainly

News flash!  The gun barrel mantlet is the right way round I repeat the gun barrel mantlet is the right way round!!

The cupola is wrong and needs a fix

The pistol port is correct!

I looked at this http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?t=743482 to see what they should and should not look like so all I need to do is fix that cupola and then make the whole thing metal just like my Panzer!

Ah I remember my first tiger I was like a wee boy in a toy shop it was a toy shop actually

Was the Tiger your fist tank!?  If I could do it all over again it would be mine, there is just something about it that makes it special!!

the tiger is definately magic! if the MG sound is a slow rate of fire you may have the new rx-18 board.

The Panzer III makes a different machine gun sound, are there different RX18s with different sounds?

there are two very different sound chips. The first of the new ones I got in my KV-1 and it's ideal, it sounds like a big old tractor engine and a slow MG, not like the fast MG of the German tank. I've just bought a new Tiger, presumably like yours, and it has the same board so I've swaped it with a HL converted T34. now the T34 sounds much better and the Tiger sounds as it should.

Hmmm that makes me wonder if my spare RX18 will make my Panzer sound different, tho since the Panzer is small maybe it makes quieter higher pitched noise in real life!  Also in the Tiger there is a handy vent where the speaker is that the panzer lacks

Other things different are the headlights flash slower on the tiger when the tank is not started, engine start up and shut down sounds take longer and are more impressive however, I don't think its just underclocked it must be a new chip like you say as the machine gun sounds different and faster and the main gun has a weak sound to it that I can't even hear lol!
