I have had a poor old Matorro Sturmtiger for several years.
The lower hull is wrecked. All the suspension arms are snapped off, and the rear plate gone.
Also had an ancient Mato Tiger 1 with nothing in it, and no hope or need to get it going. Got it for $20 with the Tamiya King Tiger from a Deceased Estate sale.
Stick them both in a blender and force the two to become one early version Sturmtiger.
The one surviving in Kubinka is apparently an early-ish version that was updated with the late wheels and barrel counterweight ring, which gives the Matorro version its look. Ongoing controversy as to if it is in fact the prototype with post acceptance modifications done in Germany before being captured by the Soviets.
https://www.tapatalk.com/groups/missing ... 16136.html
Famous(or infamous) footage of the machine that fired on Warsaw was the prototype that was inspected by Hitler, but apparently only had so called "soft steel" armour which excluded it from going any closer to the urban environment at the time & was withdrawn to the factory for a new hard-armour casemate.
Mine I hope to get close to the look of the early one made, including the front brackets etc.
For now its a shambles of some roadwheels out, others not, loctite on every screw, no gearbox's, no electronics, no way of securing the upper to the lower, broken hull mounting points, no ammo crane, no idlers, .....................another classic Herman Renovators Dream
Oh well, onwards

Herman, I found that link to the discussion about the prototype (or not) very fascinating. I don't know if your Matorro Sturmtiger hull still has the front bolted-on armor plate, but I can send you one if it does not, (would be easy to glue to the Tiger hull). It's left over from a JagdSturmTiger rebuild, but for the life of me, I can't find that ammo crane that I didn't use either. Let me know and I'll get it out to you.

G'day Mr Sass, beena while.
The poor ole Matorro does have that front cone-riveted plate, but its not complete. been fractured off. I was wondering how to restore it.
The crane is also one of those " I wish I didnt have to make it" things, but its not a disaster.
I wonder at times why I take on the absolute waste that other modelers cant be bothered with, its a lot of work, but for the right outcome, its worth the effort.

Looking at this You tube video, I reckon Mr Sassgrunt has a yard like this but in model scale!!..............acres of rare and obscure models & left over bits all waiting for him to wander through & dispatch around the globe for the greater good of the hobby & amazement and relief of the recipient
You are a very kind and generous man Sir, and I would one day like to be in a position to return the goodwill.

That's another great video, and his expression was like seeing a kid at Christmas. I look forward to part 2 of their barn find. No, my mess isn't anywhere near as numerous; I just have a lot of saved parts that could be used by me or others in the future. You know what they say - a good modeler NEVER throws anything out, because as soon as you do, you'll need it for something else. I'll get the plate out to you in the next couple of days.

Got a week out west upon me so today is my last tanking day for a week.
I have decided to take a bit of a deviation from the strict subject material on this just for aesthetics and to compensate for parts supply issues.
Apart from early roadwheels, this is going to be a Sturmtiger version that could have been a real one. Im just not going to burn currency on late wheels when I have other projects that require said currency to get them up & running let alone accurate.
I'm going to call this one the second unit made, off an old early chassis (rubber roadwheels)with zimmerit remnants(to cover the aesthetic side) and late minor features like engine deck air intake- no Fiefels, and possibly a simplified counterweight ring around the barrel of the Morser.
Luckily the old Matorro upper is a pretty good fit to the old Mato lower chassis, so that part is going to work at least.
Todays about minor part fitting, sanding, and getting the gearbox's to fit.
