While waiting for a helpful friend with metal-working skills to create some mechanical parts for my Asiatam FAMO, I have been working on a Scale: 1:16 Merit M198 Towed Howitzer (MER61602). Is all primed an major assemblies are ready to fit together, but I may do some painting before final assembly. I plan to use the NATO Green/Brown/Black camouflage scheme (either Vallejo or Tamiya paints).
Does anyone have a tip for a source of information that would help me with detail painting? For example, I see lots of hydraulics, and I suspect these should have steel piston rams inside the cylinders. And I wonder if the various tiny clevises are red. A "Walk Around" type of photo book would be great, but I do not see any such book available.
P.S.: If you are thinking of building this kit, be sure you have sanding sticks, sandpaper, a Flexi-sander, even a powered detail sander. You will be sanding seams and part lines for hours.

Re: US M198 155 Towed Howitzer
This one is finally done. Sorry, Bix, I busted my ___ over the NATO green, brown, and black. This 155 has not been fired in anger and gets pressure washed after each use. (P.S. if anyone is thinking of taking on this kit, PM me for some tips on what struggles to overcome.)
