Hi my son has got himself a Tamiya king tiger, it needs a lot of work. But the problem he has is that the plastic tracks have gone hard, So is there any metal track available for this model. Thank you.

E Bay Paddy .Not cheap but there is a set off tracks for a Tamiya on there. Show us some photos in which way it needs a lot of work .Maybe we can help a fellow tanker sort it out regards John. P.S The Heng Long, Mato and Taigen tracks will not fit.

OK So it needs controller, mother board, new tracks, maybe a new turret as rear hatch is broken and missing a hinge. Ive managed to repair rear panel and fit metal exhausts and guards. Do you have the ebay item number? Thank you

Just go on to E Bay and type in [ 1/16 Tamiya King Tiger].You will see the tracks and other items that may be of interest. There is a sprue on there with a new rear hatch or you could try to see if there is a member on the forum that has a spare. Post some photos mate. I just 95% finished the assembly of my Tamiya King Tiger [ Production turret] and will post soon. Looking forward to seeing photos of your new project. As you know there is a very helpful bunch of forum members, a lot in the U.K so I hope they can help you out .regards John.

Is this a 'Production' or 'Porsche' turret version? I might have some spares for a 'Production' version as I recently bought some new sprues to fix up a basket case of my own.
One thing I would add to your list is a Hentech Idler, as I recall the stock Tamiya ones don't do well when subjected to metal tracks.

You say you need a new motherboard, is this a DMD-03 version, or an older one? (or did the previous owner part out the electronics seperately?)

indeed would be good to indicate, which type you have? a single engine, mechanical variator, turret rotation and flash in barrel? or, more recent, 2 motors, does not seem to have electronics with? photos would be welcome . :) Easier without seeing the beast!!! do you have the Tamiya assembly instructions?

 for info, look in "Telechargement" on this forum (at the top) you will find the notices of 3 KT Tamiya, that of the 80s then the 56017 and 56018, that will help you a lot, I think?

Hi

A few years back I had a Matorro King Tiger and the lower hull got destroyed in an accident. I had a spare Tamiya Lower hull so mated the Matorro Top hull to the Tamiya lower. I used the Matorro tracks though and they fitted the Tamiya sprockets with no issue so that is another option which would be cheaper than the Tamiya ones which are now very expensive for what they are.

THey are availble at this link and it even states on the link they are not compatible with Toro or Taigen so are an option.

Hope this helps.

PS. I sold the hybrig KT a few years back and do not have any pics sorry to show you.

:) Personally, I used tracks from RC tank.de on my KT Tam and never had any problems?
