Just saying hi

Hi, ever since I saw and built my first Tamiya model tank (1/35 Chieftain iirc over 40 years ago) I've wanted one of their RC tanks but even that long ago they were more than I wanted to spend or could afford! As I began to earn money for myself I did start buying RC toys, I have helicopters, planes, drones, cars and boats but never a tank. Tamiya tanks are still more than I'd want to spend so last week I took delivery of a Hang Long Tiger 2 with a metal upgrade (gearbox, wheels and tracks) and was pleasantly surprised just how good it is. At some point I'll look at blinging and weathering it up.
But for now hello to you all.

Welcome aboard! To me the biggest advantage to Tamiya is they are in kit form and need to be assembled. The HL is an RTR. Granted many of us reduce our Heng Longs to kit form as we rebuild them to suit our desires. Some will say the Tamiyas give greater accuracy, but in many cases they can be way off too.

I miss the Associated RC10 with the aluminum pan. That was a great/fun car to build.

Welcome Mega!

I'm pretty happy with my Heng Long King Tiger too. Be sure to post up some pictures when you dress yours up.

Welcome from Ontario, Canada!

Heng Long has come a very long way in terms of pretty much everything. Those are some good upgrades to get. Yes, please keep us posted as you make it your own KT.

Mike.

Hello 👋 Thank you for the fine introduction. I'm glad you are enjoying the King Tiger. Your questions are welcome and keep us informed as you improve--and even as you just use the tank. Oh, and is this a BB firing tank or IR? Do you know which version of the Heng Long electronics it uses?
