I was shopping around for a model ship I have been wanting and came across this kit from Glenco,it's a 1/15 scale M-41 Bulldog.I was wondering if anyone has built this kit or has information on this kit.Some of glenco's ship kits are fair,generally rather plain on detail but stong hulled and easy to modify.The kit list for 35.00$ U.S.PLUS SHIPPING.From the box art it would seem to be viet-nam era,two F-4 phantoms overhead,any info will be helpful.Thanks Saxondog

I've looked at a few reviews of this kit. The overall opinion is to steer clear of it, especially if you are considering an RC conversion. Apparently the tracks and running gear are too fragile and would require replacement.

Just thinking of using it as a static kit,not very costly and could be a test bed for painting a H/L bulldog.My son would like a bulldog,but he does want me to do the paint and weathering,also thought maybe some of the parts could be used to make the H/L more detailed,the real thing I thought about was the engine assembly.The verdy Tiger engine is 80.00$ so a good engine assembly and a hole other tank for 35.00$ seems a bargain,do you know if the kit has internal assemblies,engine,hatch detailes,perhaps grills,just any thing to help with the H/L BUILD.SAX ALMOST FORGOT it does come with a very large decal sheet,lots of detail,several smaller unit markings and equipment markings that also would have a value as most decal sheets are 15-20 dollars.

I've read that Glencoe acquire and refurbish old mould tools from other manufacturers and release them under their brand so its difficult to say whether the quality of their ships (say) is true of this model - they may well be different original manufacturers.  I'd say its worth a go as a static model or for spares and decals.  If as I guess its a 1970's mould refurb there's unlikely to be any internals.

Well you have some very valid points,and I agree with what your saying.The real advantage is the price and the decal sheet,an engine assembly would be a nice touch to add to the H/L bulldog.If I take the leap I will post the details so we may all take advantage of this kit.Sax

Rocket built one of these a few year back if I remember rightly they are not 1/15 scale if you put one side by side with the HL version you will find the HL is bigger having said that the quality of the kit is very poor

I don't think you should compare anything with the HL Bulldog as that is notoriously inaccurate if I remember the slagging off it got on the German forum when it was first released...

Compared to the Glenco kit it’s far more accurate, remember this kit first came about in the late 50’s early 60’s and models back then where particularly inaccurate

You're right Rivet, Rocketman did make one and wasnt impressed. If you're just looking for a static M41 then the 21ST CENTURY, FORCES OF VALOR 1/18TH Bulldog (http://www.modellersloft.co.uk/showitem.ihtml?itemid=16714&dept=:dept) would probably be a better, more accurate starting point. Remember the HL Bulldog is badly over scale.

Oh god yeah that thing. I binned 90% of that and im not exagerating! Mind you by the time Id finsihed with it it was a nice kit but I wouldnt recomend it to anyone in a hurry to do again! ::)
