1/16 Joint Venture Opel Blitz 3 ton

Post by WCP RC MODELS »

Hello
We have a new model we have been working on which is a bit of a joint venture with one of the other members on here (Martin)

The original model has been taken and somewhat played around with and we have incorporated a metal chassis rail for strength and support. We have then designed parts to suit the truck, some of which FDM printed & others printed with SLA in resin.
The mix of detail and strength comes from the choice of materials.
At somepoint in the future we do hope to bring the option of a real wooden rear deck, but at this time not so.

The tyres used are real rubber as requested by our customer, so were imported at great cost.
The drive comes from a geared 370 motor and it will run 2s lipo and run in 4x2 configuration. A 4x4 version i will work on in future.
The steering is controlled by small metal gear and metal housed servo.
The esc is located in the rear cargo deck and will be camouflaged a wee bit. For display purposes a small box will conceal. The esc is a bit large, but we like to have these things over engineered so as not to cause problems in future. The small 20a esc have caused us numerous issues over the years with trucks, hence why we prefer using the larger escs.

The lipo will sit under the cargo deck and velcro in place next to the spare wheel & tyre

There should be a decent amount of grunt to have a good towing ability for small artillery pieces coming up to a Pak40. Something this sized would not have towed anything larger, although i am sure it could tow our 88mm no problem.

At last a ready built 1/16 Opel Blitz,
Please put me in the queue for one,
Just out of interest will you be offering a windscreen or at least a paper/card template, the lack of a windshield was ever a pain with most WPL trucks.
I think I am about to upset someone :haha:

Good Afternoon,
I've always wanted a Blitz but something about the white metal Asiatam versions always threw me off. Following along to be put on the List (if one exists)

Perhaps it is the exorbitant price :haha: I know that is my reason
By the way I wonder if the half track modification will fit Will's creation ???

Maultier Blitz, i think with those metal Panzer1 track kits which can be purchased online, it makes the prospect of a Maultier Blitz a possibility of course. But we will see, we have a fair few other commissions to work on currently without adding to the list

Plastic Asiatam tracks are also a possibility, but supply is a bit spotty.
