Hello everyone, i just ordered a HL M1A2 and while im waiting for it to arrive im thinking to get a metal TUSK II package, but the description clearly says:
"Warning: there are no installation instructions. You need to drill holes and use glue to fix them yourself."
Maybe someone got the same package and could give a few advices on how to correctly install it, thanks in advance

Hi sir,
I can advise you a little as I have fabricated and installed the TUSK I fit to the Heng Long M1 hull. You can view my build here:

I have many photos of the process post and even more that are not.
Please let me know if I can be of help.
Barry

Wow! Stunning work!
Ill need to mount a metal TUSK kit on regular plastic Heng Long hull and turret, i never worked with metal and have no idea how to "glue" it all together
will the plastic handle weight and stress, or should i leave this idea...
I see mounts on your build, but i cant figure out if they are decorative or actually hold parts together

I'm not sure that anyone here has actually installed the metal TUSK2, at least not that I've seen here. It seems some of those items have mounting points so you will probably have to drill holes in your HL turret and side skirts. Personally I wouldn't use glue alone. Glue with a mechanical connection (IE: screws) would be much better. I know when I attached my 3D printed TUSK2 to my side skirts, I drilled holes in the back of the ERA panels to accept countersunk screws from the inside. If you've never done this type of thing of drilling holes and tapping them in metal, it might be a little daunting for a beginner. We can help out as much as possible, but the metal pieces are going to be heavy.

Thank you Derek! I guess it will be a little tricky, but I'm not new to working with my hands.
Your comment gave me required confidence, i will buy the kit and i think everything will become clear once i get it
as we say in Russia "the eyes are afraid but the hands are doing"
My final goal is to make
my signature work a reality (but with TUSK II instead)

Thank you for your kind words.
All the mounts are functional. Many of these parts are very heavy and are subject to being banged and bumped. Plus I am going for maximum accuracy of detail. I also want to be able to disassemble for repair or replacement. Any of the parts I "glue" is accomplished with metal based epoxy.
If you intend run you tank hard I absolutely recommend using screws or other types of fasteners to allow you to remove parts as needed. Just in normal handling for maintenance they will be subject to bumps and bangs.

So nuts and bolts are actually holding parts together? That's just crazy, very impressive
Looks like great fun awaits me

I love details, there is never too much, especially when you enjoy doing it
