1.5mm Modelling Board Alternatives

Been designing a A13 cruiser tank on cad ready to cut out and piece together soon. Been looking around for suitable material board about 1.5mm thick to laser cut, been using ply board but its very expensive, what alternatives do you guys use for modelling sheet, i thought about using grey board 1500 micron 1.5mm thick, would that be any good.

My goto poly board supplier in various sizes including 1/6 is www.ema-models.co.uk.
I think I am about to upset someone :haha:
