would like some ideas on how to remove tamiya spray paint from plastic and metal
have tried mr muscle oven cleaner this has made no impact what so ever
was going to try brake fluid but not sure about the plastic

PM,OZ he should know as he uses Tamiya paints.Can't understand the oven cleaner not working,how long did you leave it on? Saxondog

I remember a guy on THQ using some Russian break fluid on a Pershing he had out in Afghanistan which didn’t affect the plastic though I would test it on some old spurs first also have a look at the fluid you are using some are silicone based which will have disastrous results when you come to repaint

I use clutch/brake fluid to clean up plastic Warhammer figures.

Once I left some soaking for over a year and the plastic was still OK

i will try some brake fluid
left the oven cleaner on for 30 mins had no effect what so ever

try nail-polish remover, i have used this on some smaller parts sprayed with the awful tamiya spray cans and the results were OK.

nail polish remover is usually acetone and that will melt plastic

not unless you use acetone free polish remover..............oz

It depends on the plastic.  I have an old heng long tiger and wanted to remove tamiya paint.  I tried oven cleaner and modelstrip but found nothing but cellulose thinners stripped the paint off and it didn't attack the plastic - believe me I was surprised because cellulose normally eats polystyrene based plastics.  I'd try a small patch on the underside first though since it wouldn't surprise me if HL used different plastics sometimes.

I just don't understand why the ovencleaner did not work.In the c of my tiger stripped all the Testors grey and the H/L COLORING,THREE COATS and some scrubbing with tooth brush and all gone.
