What a great argument for not shoveling the driveway too soon after a snowstorm--say, 90 days. Did you do any special preparation of the lower hull before taking to the snow. By the way, Jimster, you should know that's not deep snow at all, unless you happen to be in 1/16 size and stand only 4 1/2 inches tall.

As in waterproofing? None.

I did let them sit outside for 20 minutes before running. This prevents the snow from sticking.

Neat video, and thanks for sharing it with us. They're handling it like champs!

I had a few goes myself earlier in December taking my tigers out in the snow. Worked well enough when it was cold and not too deep, but the fresh stuff that came later proved rather disastrous.
Would pack the suspension and tracks so full that it stalled out the King Tiger and de-tracked the Tiger I. Not too dissimilar from the woes the real things encountered on the eastern front from what I've read.
The WPL truck was happy as a pig in muck mind you.

I plan to try again once it gets colder again, and like you did put them aside for a bit first to let the tanks themselves acclimatize.

"[Y]ou lucky so & so's having real snow to play in..." Unh, Bix, on the 28th when you were writing that, I was in bed in excruciating muscle pain from a fall on the ice

as I was sanding the driveway to help one of my fellow modelers make it uphill.

I did "tuck and roll" to protect my head, but in the process pulled a neck muscle (what muscle I have left after all these years).

Some hydrocodones, muscle relaxants, Christmas cookies, and cake later,

I am up and crabby.

And to add insult to injury: after a few days of sub-zero temperatures (Fahrenheit, mind you) we started a freaky warming spell and all the snow melted away!

Not in deep snow but it did stick to my tracks. I think tanks look great driving in snow. Yours drive through the deep stuff like beasts!
