I bought a 1/16 Tamiya Panzer, with the single motor and I said why not. i decided to make it a full ops tank, seeing how the plastic parts in the kit are the same for their full ops. model. I did have to buy the 2 motor units along with the recoil unit. I had almost everything else. Now Checking different places online they all said I need the MF-05 for this tank so I went and bought one of them also. Now that its done, I hear no sounds when gun moves up/down and no sound when the turrent turns. It sounds like this should go into a Jagdpanther not the panzer. Should I have bought a MF-4 ? Would that work with all the sounds.

If its a panzer IVJ, the turret turned by means of the gunner furiously cranking a handle - power traverse had been deleted as a cost saving measure.


Also to add: The MF04 is for the JagdPanther, so it will have the engine sounds from the Tiger's MF03, with the turret noises also removed - buying that one isn't going to help you either!

(I'm sure any second now some crack head is going to come into this thread and insist that you should be able to hear the hand cranked turret traverse over the sound of the engine - but I will do my best to ignore their stupid, I recommend you do the same )

Just think if you had bought the Taigen PZ4 Ausf F2/G you would have saved yourself £400 and received a turret that is better in detail than Tamiya's as well as the sound of a PZ4 Ausf G turret motor and the pukka engine sound,
I have to admit it would be down to you to install the 5 degree slope in the engine bay and drop the rear roller each side by 3 to 5 mm as well as modifying the front sprockets and for accuracy you would have to buy a PZ111/4 Radio aerial,

Perhaps the Tamiya PZ4 is not so bad afterall.

The hull of the Taigen is plain wrong, compared with the Tamiya Ausf J- and it's a nightmare trying to correct the engine deck angle (having done it once) and rear roller position. Marrying the Taigen upper with the Tamiya lower might be one option, but external dimension disparities might well rule that out. Tamiya's Ausf J is pretty accurate, and the simplified cosmetic differences on the upper hull, compared with the Ausf G are consistent with reality. DMD units are: T-03 and MF-05. They're unbelievable expensive- when, and if, available!!.Using alternative control units- even HLs vastly improved offerings- is tempting, but I don't know how compatible Tamiya motors are with alternate controllers. I have seen failed attempts in the past. The Ausf J is a lovely model, by the way!.
