Torro Barrel recoil-IBU2 Ultimate

Post by zippersnapper »

Can anyone help me with this Torro Barrel recoil/elevation unit? The elevation I have figured out as its pretty straight forward, but the recoil leaves me sratching my head.

I stumbled across this video, and thought this may be the answer even though it was for another board, but Im stuck without knowing where to plug into the IBU2. 3 pin JST into the Taigen recoil port maybe? My pinout diagram has all polarity markings with the exception of the before mentioned Taigen recoil port.

I can solder everything back to stock if need be, so thats no worry, and I do have everything to make up JST & Dupont connectors. This is my 3rd IBU2 and I love them, but the other 2 went into servo driven recoils not motor driven. This Torro unit has 2 sets of contact switches thats throwing me for a loop as well. This tank is IR, not airsoft.

I even tried setting the .ini for a 1725 millisecond pulse and its super close, but quickly gets out of time so thats a no go.
Please help? :headbang:

You will need to rewire it the way it was the red wire in the 3 pin plug supplies a live for both motors if you have a blue wire and a white wire that went to a switch in the turret you will need to join them together. it is wired the same way as a bb gun and elevation unit is the only difference is the black wire with the bullet connector, that needs to connect to a permanent earth to the battery negative or the negative on the on/off switch

As far as i can tell by the manual the IBU2 boards still use the 8 pin turret connector so the 3 pin plug from the unit will plug back into the 8 pin daughter board

John you are SO very helpful, and I cant tell you how much its appreciated. OK, let me make sure I undertand. Yes, The IBU2 still has the 8 pin Henglong port, and I undestand the positive of both motors ties into the +Barrel/Recoil pin position. The negatives on that same 8 pin JST for EACH individual motor reside just below the common positve. The daughter board has been removed completly though. The limit swtch with the black/red wires is not used? and the limit switch with yellow/black wth bullet is used and that black wire goes to ground-got it. Here is what the back of the unit looks like, with the 3 pin JST.

so you know where to plug in the 2 negative wires for the recoil unit?
The red/black microswitch wires should plug in with the xenon flash unit
The flash unit has 3 wires going into a 5 pin plug the other 2 wires on the 5 pin plug should have a female jst connector on them this is where the red/black plug goes. on the top right of your diagram there is a 5 pin socket with -batt/airsoft/-batt/xenon signal/+batt that is for the xenon flash try it with out the red/black socket plugged in if you get no gun fire noise or flash then plug it in

PIns C,D,E,F,G will be used for a barrel flash/smoke unit as is the case in my other tanks. John & Jofaur86 thank you so much for gettimg me out of this bind. This tank has me somewhat worried as it will work or not...

Hello,
if you did not touch the wiring? difference with mine? it should be like this with your current colors:
blue with yellow
black with blue
the red (common) with the brown of the 8-pin plug, and unless I am mistaken!! in reality, there is a common wire, (the red in your case, and the other two returns, a for each engine. Keep us informed of the result
