Tamiya Pershing tank wont move

Post by rr82@mediacombb.net »

I am putting a Tamiya pershing full ops tank together, I got as far as wiring the lights. Thought I might try out the sounds and lights ect. Turned on the power the lights came on, the m gun fires, and the sounds, they sound good. But when I tried to run the tank, the sounds got faster like they should but the tank would not move. I checked out the communication cable, it was ok. I did notice the green light on the MF-03 flashes, I thought it should just stay on. Any ideas as to what I could check out before I go and buy another MF-03 or a T-06 Help !

Check the electronics manual, those electronics have a clutch.

When you start it have engine running sound. you have to blip the throttle go full movement range then back to middle need to do it fast, make sure tank is on a block till you get used to procedure once you have blipped it it should run as a normal tank. You have to do this each time you start it (sorry) this and the Russian sound units have this. Its a pain in the butt.

With the tamiya pershing it is setup to have like a neutral gear, with the older type radios you used to have to slide one of the trims full up or down and blip the throttle stick for it to engage drive, not sure for other types of radio though, take a look through the manual again to check for it

I tried moving the throttle up then back to the middle 4 or 5 times nothing happens. I do have a new Tamiya radio that came with it. I have 2 other tanks with that same kind of radio. I think they do work fine. I tried setting 1 of my other tanks close by and hooking up the MF and its cable from that tank to my new one and also hooked up the power from the older MF. Then I turned on the power, the wheels turned just fine. So Now I know the DMD unit works along with the motors, but still dont know if its the cable or the MF-03 unit. I did beep out the cable and it seems to be ok.

Hello, have you ever done it? where is this a first commissioning? do a reset (Set button) at the top left of the DMD, and resume your settings, as indicated in the manual, do you have the sound? turret rotation, cannon elevation, etc. Have you respected the order of the sheets on the RX according to the sleeves of the radio?

You also have to move the trim switch on the throttle side up or down with the tamiya radios before blipping the throttle then return the trim switch back to centre you should then have drive, most of the other tamiya tanks don't have this function so they will work as normal but not the pershing

do you have the correct two units? DMD and MF, on the transmitter, the servo direction reversing switches are all in the same position, downwards, from memory? Indeed, as stated in the previous message, there is a particular manipulation on this model, to go from idling to accelerating?

yes I have the right DMD and MF units. the ones that came with kit. I tried moving throttle trim up before bumping the throttle a few different times, nothing. I also tried the DMD reset check. light turns red them green like the book said. and still nothing.
