New member here and complete change of direction for me, I've always been into model aircraft & flight simming but always had an interest in military vehicles in general.
Well I've got a big birthday coming up ( 60

) and my lovely wife has said she's getting me a remote control tank as it's something I've always wanted.....I've never had a remote control anything before, unless the tv counts ?
From what I've seen browsing these boards so far you all seem a pretty friendly lot of very like minded folks so hopefully you'll already be accustomed to the silly questions I'm likely to be asking.
Thanking you all in advance....
Ant.

welcome!
So do you know what tank you are getting or is it a birthday surprise?

Hi, Welcome to the Forum
We can be friendly but there are times
The only silly question is the one you don't ask so ask away.

Thinking about it. It's probably more or a case will it be a early/mid or late Tiger 1. Because everybody's first tank is a tiger 1!

Hi Ratrace! May your 60th be joyful, and any wife who buys hubby an RC tank deserves loving care. How sweet of her! I, too, wonder what tank you will get. My suggestion: take a quick photo right away and even take photos as you open the box to unpack. That way you will know how to repack it, and you will have plenty of photos to put here on RCTW asking, "What is this thing here? ...and this?"

And by all means, ask questions: if you have never had an RC tank before, maybe even I could answer a question.
OK this (probably tired old) question just occurred to me: is the Cheshire Cat in
Alice in Wonderland a breed of cat from Cheshire? (Yes, I know I could look it up, but asking a person from Cheshire is more fun.)

Thanks for the kind words everyone.
The tank has already been purchased even though my birthday is not until the middle of November........lots of sleeps away yet so I need to be a good boy

It's a HL Sherman v7.0 pro purchased via ebay from a company that it turned out are based only a few miles from my house.
As for the Cheshire cat thing, I dont know whether it's an actual breed but all the cats around here always seem to have that smug smirk on their face that says "I know summat that you dont"

I just chewed the wires in your Sherman tank.
