Battery charger

Hi all,
With all the work I've been doing in the site recently, it's given me a little itch to retrieve my tanks that are still stashed in my parents loft and bring them home, even if it's just to sort through and pass some on to a better home.
However, what I do remember is that after the last RC Tank meet I attended many years ago - I left my fast charger somewhere and have not seen it since! I wasn't even able to find one of the basic Heng long ones I thought I had laying around.
So my question is - is there a good and hopefully not too expensive smart charger that people would recommend? I say smart, because my batteries are very old now, so will probably need a very safe first charge and then probably a trickle mode afterwards! The batteries I have are all either HL ones or some more special higher MAH ones I had for my family's tanks (no idea on the brand, but standard plugs!).
Many thanks,
Matt

Here’s my go to “do it all” charger. Works on practically every battery as far as I know. Beautiful color touch screen as well.

I use an icharger. Not budget price I know but not high end either. Has some great features like a temperature probe to monitor battery temperature and the feature I like most is it can check internal resistance so you keep an eye on the batteries condition.
Search for iCharger 208B on Ali Express.

Thanks for your suggestions guys! The RCSKY Imax b6 v2 is probably what i'll go for, can get it cheap anough and I have plenty of DC 12v plugs hanging around, and the charger can be used for other things which is nice!

Hello, personally I would prefer a mains-powered charger? But that's just my personal opinion!!!

Sorry I meant 240v mains plugs that put out 12v DC (which I think you need for the IMAX b6)

Hello Matdragon
I’m using Turnigy Accucel-6 Balancer Charger, which seems to me the same product as mentioned imax, and it works well.

Just be carefull about the DC supply parameters, since you need some quite powerfull one to feed the charger. More than 10A in this case, otherwise you could not use the charger to the max. output possible…
On the other hand, model battery packs are not charged with more than 4-5A very often, mostly with much less current up to 2-3A.
Just my five cents , good luck…
edit: just some reading about imax and fakes if interested…

I echo the positive remarks made about this charger,
The only shortcoming being a lack of an instruction sheet BUT all is not lost there is a very nice piece on U-Tube that will guide you through every aspect of the charger

If somebody is interested in a PDF with the manual for the Imax B6 in English, just let me know.
