So I recently got some plywood that was part of a pallet. It had been out in the rain so was not much good for any proper project.

I just made this simple ruined building to start off with. My aim is to make a few but basically with the same measurements so they can slot together in different ways. Just to be things to drive around. Then they can unpack and hide in the corner of a room out of sight.

Yes I think if anyone was going to take inspiration from this project then a sheet of 8x4' 18mm ply would be a good starting place.

If anyone has any good painting ideas then I would like to hear it. I was just planning to use grey primer, not sure what to do do after that.

I've used stone effect spray paint in the past, but it gets to be an expensive hobby by the time you add in the cost of the sealer coat as well.

I'm currently using dolls house stone (or brick) paper, apllied with wallpaper paste, over external wood primer/undercoat, with a coat of Thomsons Water Seal on the bare wood, to (hopefully) keep the damp out: Another solution if you wanted to go for the "half timbered" or German "Fachwerk" exposed timber frame look, then lolly sticks (suitably stained) and white tile grout render also work

Thanks, I think the Fachwerk style of building will really help blend in the janky corners that this style of building makes.

here is a video of most of the ply cut. so just got paint them and add detail. this is all my "play grade" stuff that the kids can smack the tanks into.

I am jealous of your buildings, Stuart! What a great idea of making them interchangeable and yet store flat (Stu the Flat). Then you can put your toys away when you are done, pleasing my mom (may she rest in peace).
Have fun painting and finishing the buildings and keep up the pictures.
But if there is a smoking Tiger, hit from behind, where are the five Shermans and that modest, self-effacing actor, Brad Pitt? Did you put about three smoke units in a static Tiger model? That's sure cool---unh, hot!
