Operational air brake and canopy make this F/A-18 that bit more realistic together with some nice flying by Azza at Southern Model Show...

Really great filming, and a stupendous aircraft & piloting, but the constant commentary and the background music ruined the overall effect for me.
I like to see the flight and hear the turbine sounds..............not some old top of the pops tune !

Once a real pilot got into a topic about an F-18 with an impeller engine and talked about a delusion about what we call an air brake.
It turns out that his brake is the rudders deflected inward, and this shield is designed to adjust the pressure of the aircraft when the hook touches the cable.
The same panels are on the F-14; they, like deflectors, regulate the degree of lowering of the stern for the operation of the landing hook.
this was confirmed by the F-14 pilot, who also became interested in models.
These are the people who become fans of radio-controlled aircraft ...
