And now begs the question..............what colour ??
Ratnik?, no, not with those boots.
The dark navy blue ? , nope, too heavy.
The almost camel coloured 1st Chechen war period ? :headbang:

With the arrival of some of Mr Raminators finest printed products the mission continues..............

Now looking through the vast wilderness of the Web at all things Russian uniform, I have decided on this choice option.
Current version so called 'Ratnik' (Warrior) or older but still in use(due to supply issues) VSR93 pattern.
Either option will be a long bow to draw for my beginner skill level of figure painting, but I have to risk it.
The boots dont fit with the Ratnik style though, but I can argue plausible with boots being a very personal choice for any man and again the supply chain being overwhelmed by demand for the latest footwear going to those that rely on their feet to get them through each day rather than jokers swanning about in a Limo!!
This vehicle is set in late September/early October '22 outside Donetsk, Autumn is upon them, and the so called Indian Summer has passed so its chilly.
The jackets will suit the climate and make whatever life outside the tank the crew has a bit more bearable.

The bottles & crates are almost done too. Damned if I haven't decided that the humble coke bottle is hard to reproduce in this scale.......label being the pain in this case. But I have a plan :shifty: :shh:

Hell yeah! Fantastic work Herman, really pleased to see how those crates and bottles came out. The painting and chipping look perfect. I'll be excited to see how the little AKS-74Us turn out, I was pretty pleased with them for what I think was only three nights' worth of drawing.

The glazed black-and-white figures are off to a great start, how are you thinking of tackling the camo patterns?

What he said, and holy cow! That is some amazing work.

I would have a lot of fun painting all those little goodies, Bix, and it seems to me that you are off to a fine start, indeed. Bravo to Raminator for making them for you.The fellow in 5qgwoimgkjy91.jpg (100.37 KiB) looks as if he is just about 15 years old. Yikes!

(Since you are showing the figures, Bix, maybe you could put them in the figures section, too. It needs some reviving.)

I have a question for Raminator.
The helmets look like they are WWII vintage? Did the Russians keep similar leather helmets all along? (The goggles are decidedly different.)

The helmets are slightly different from the WW2 versions. Larger ear pieces to allow for later comms systems, and more ribs I assume to add protection.
These are pretty much it for decades until the new full body protection system Ratnik was introduced in 2014. Which includes new helmets .
Not all crews have this yet though.
