Abrams turret floor mod so you can fix bustle rack in place

Dear All

I didn’t add this to the build as it’s general to all Abrams, just a way of fixing the bustle rack in place so you don’t have to remove it to get into the turret, and you can then fit the trumpeter one.
The trumpeter rack is the right size, it’s the heng long rear top edge of the turret that is a bit too short.

If I should have putt his in the other post, let me know and I’ll do that.

It is definitely a helpful thing to do for maintenance reasons. I've done the same mode to my Trumpeter 1/16 T-72B1, my HL Abrams, and my Trumpeter M1A1 AIM Abrams.

Yep, it is the only way to go.

Allows quick and easy access to turret mounted electronics.

Hi!

and sorry Barry and tankme , i hadn't realized you'd done the same thing, i looked at the first 2 pages of you build, and i decided i wouldn't do an m1a1! :D its top notch.
If its not a rude question, what did you do for a living before you retired?

No apology needed, not everyone sees all the different builds. It is always good to cast light on Good Ideas! I shamelessly stole the idea from someone else here myself.

I spent 40+ years in Aviation Maintenance, specifically Aviation Electronics. :)

Good job
I did the same for my son's Abrams (old Hobby Engine). The bustle rack is attached to the top of the turret. I added a servo as an elevation drive (I have HL TK 6.1) and a sensor that detects when the barrel is above the engine deck...

Yeah, definitely no reason to apologize as Barry said. I'm an old MI guy (military intelligence for you civilian folk) that turned into an IT guy after the Army (for the last 28 years). My adult love of tanks started with an RC 21st Century 1/6th scale Stuart I bought at Walmart for $50. From there I found the Fort Snelling Military Museum in St. Paul, MN and volunteered to work on actual tanks. That morphed into 1/6th scale RC paintball firing tanks and now into 1/16th scale tanks.

We all steal ideas from each other which is why we are all here. :) Well that and to show off our builds. ;D

I have a Heng Long Abrams still boxed along with a Challenger and some other Armour which I will if I live to be about 150 I will get sorted out :haha: In the meantime I am building up a parts bin for each Tank so I can just get on with it when I have the time,
Is there a site where I can purchase a "Trumpeter Rack"?

From time to time a US seller pops up on ebay.com offering multiple sprues from Trumpeter Abrams. Now I haven't found it, but it's worth checking it every now and then.

Thank you for that,
I shall start scanning E-Bay.
