Tank stowage cope cage.jpg
Nice clear image of plenty of stowage on top of a cope cage.

Note the state of the rear mounted fuel drums!
Mounts compressed against the rear plate & one missing 8O
Great cage picture of the flotsam and jetsam of daily combat.
Lack of side skirts & ERA is also of note.

Great picture. Taken probably in the begining of the war (vide winter clothing).

Herman , those mounts unbolt from there brackets when they aren't using the 44's and get remounted in there , shown , folded position.
They aren't all squashed up to the chassis from poor Russian reversing skills, :D

There are 4 bolts holding them on. When not in use the bolt them 90 degrees, when in use they are bolted inline with the tank centerline.

Looks like a protective, plastic, outer covering on the tow cables.

I think the steel cables used to manufacture the cable are just really finely woven. Plastic cover would be worthless after 6 months in the sun or in the cold as it would just crack and peal off.
