Hello
Is white lithium grease the best lubricant for gearboxes?
Thanks in advance

I’ve found motorcycle chain spray to be very good and clings well. White ptfe grease is plastic friendly and works well.

Thanks for your reply.
Do you think oil from a scottoiler, the blue oil would work?

Go to a model railway shop and ask for a plastic friendly light grease, as used on loco plastic gearboxes.

Before using any lubricant I recommend you fit a firewall between the gearboxes and the electronics to prevent oil/grease shorting the control board.
As to the best lube I use -----
"WD40 Specialist Anti-Friction DRY PTFE Lubricant".
It does the job without throwing gobbits of grease all over the interior and it really does reduce friction in the gearbox to the point that you can turn the gears over between the fingers with almost no resistance.

WHite lithium grease is good, but like the last few users here, using a Dry PTFE style lubricant works best on our small open style gearboxes as it prevents mess spreading and also eventually if you keep greasing like that you end up having to strip and clean it as the dirt clings to it aswell. Thats the beauty of the dry lubricant, easy enough to re-coat every once in a while aswell
Since i love the smell of GT-85 i use that

That's the ticket.

Great stuff, I've been using it for years.

That's a good one. It's simple, apply carefully and lightly so the teeth have a film over them. It doesn't fly off anywhere but stays in place and carries on working for ages.
