So, somewhere early December I have my birthday, and to be honest, I have a great familiy-in-law

They gave me some money, and it was enough to buy a decent doubleaction airbrush incl compressor.

Today it arrived, and unpacking presents is always fun

Just checked the compressor and switched it on, seems my 3D printer makes more noise

Enjoy you new toy! Looks like a good setup. If you are new to airbrushing, try playing around on old models with paint/thinners ratios, paint types and manufacturers, air pressures etc. Work in clean, warm, dry environments and keep the brush really clean, inside and out.

If you are already experienced just ignore the above!

thanks for the tips, I will use them, no experience yet with an airbrush

Yes but with precision it's better for painting 1:1 tanks probably

that will take a long time

It's all trial and error, Jee. The more you use it, the better you will become- at least, that's the theory. I use a Harder and Steenbeck brush with a 0.3mm needle (and smaller for fine detail), as this is a handy size for 1/16 tanks. Some are so precise, that they can be used on fingernails (not mine!). You could always practice on the wife
Ahem..well...practice on an old model, as has been suggested, or even spray onto some cardboard before beginning, just to check that the flow is even and manageable

and finally the first paint arrived too
sometimes distribution in Russia takes a while....

Hi, Jee! Please excuse me if you know all this already. I like Vallejo paints. That's a Model Color set. I really like the Model Color for brushing small details and figures. For airbrushing, it will need thinning. For model color (I have that set and many more colors), I keep on hand Vallejo Thinner and Vallejo Flow Improver. If you need more information, let me know.

Model Air comes pretty much ready to go. For airbrushing, Tamiya is tops, but ex-pen-si-vo!
