VK 16.02 Leopard
Re: VK 16.02 Leopard
Hi
Working on the CAD design, this would be the leayout of upper and lower hull to access electronics:
I'm thinking to do the joint between glacis and lower front without interlocked because it can be a adjust problem or damage the paint.

Yours is impressive work, Edumardo. However, I must respectfully (and enviously ) object: there is no "simple trigonometric operation," at least not for me.

Re: VK 16.02 Leopard
I keep preparing parts and adjusting details of the 3D model.
I cut the driver and radio operator hatches, enginge hatch, and the rear plate, ready for round and finish them. The Rear platae has a lot of bevels and it will take more time to finish:
The desired result:

New advances!
Regarding the 3D model, I have advanced with the driver and radio vision ports, designed as the original blueprint:
And an initial version of the KwK 39 L/60 50 mm muzzle break. The truth is that it has been difficult to locate photos where the structure and shape can be clearly seen. There are countless models of the SdKfz 234/2 Puma (it mounts the same barrel), but each brand has designed it as they wanted. Finally I have based on this gallery from wikipedia:

Re: VK 16.02 Leopard
Yes, this is an option, but being strict is not exactly the same turret Panzer Tracts 20-2, page 68, speaking about Leopard:Met5 wrote:Sd.Kfz.234/2 PumaEdumardo wrote: What about the turret? Is It from scratch?.
While similar in general shape to the turret mounted on the s.Pz.Sp.Wg (Sd.Kfz.234/2), the turret for the Leopard was larger and had thicker armor sloped at greater angles. The 50 mm turret front plate was set at 20 degrees, 30 mm side and rear plates at 30 degrees, and 16 mm roof plate at horizontal.
Anyway, I have considered using a turret from the Torro Puma or or from the Xion model, but it is almost impossible to find it alone. I asked Xion.de about the possibility of buying the matrices separately, and it would cost about 76€ plus shipping costs (including metal gun).
I will try to build the turret from scratch, or 3D printed

I have finished the hull sides with following these steps:
- Print the blueprints on adhesive paper and stick them on the inside.
- Drill in each hole.
- With the fret saw, cut out each hole.
- Smooth finish with dremel at low speed.

Great progress Edumardo, that's some surgical-precision work getting those holes cut in the hull sides. They look CNC cut!
