Although you, Rob, had to remove the chromed spears from the body the hard way--no way around it--such separate items as chromed bumpers can be "dechromatated" (I have used that silly coinage for over 50 years) with ammonia. At least this worked for me back in the '60s when I built model trucks and cars. It helps after removing the chrome to rough up the part lightly with fine steel wool so primer and finish coats stick better.

Entire body is die-cast, that's why I needed some effort removing the cast "chromed" trims.
Bumpers are out of plastic, so the chrome did come off very easily, just by scraping it with whatever sharp object I had laying around.

Engine and trunk got a bit dusted too

Interior got it's part of "aging" too.
But this has to receive some fine-tuning.

What a defference in color when you compare the last 4 pics with the last one in the previous post.
Same car, same color, different light.....

I take photos for monthly articles on model farm tractors and equipment. Yellow (e.g. Dunkelgelb) and gold tones seem to be the trickiest. Wow, those balloon tires look rather wild on the little VW. Did the reconnaissance units use those? How interesting!

Don't know if these balloon tires are accurat for this vehicle.
And as a matter of fact.....it does not even bother me much.
Just wanted to make something different....scale or not...accurat or not.....
The balloon tires were a bit too much outside the fenders, so tonight I took care of that and now they look better on the bug.
